Dan at OWAA Conference

Dan is at the OWAA Conference in Roanoke, VA. He’s going to be quite busy I hear, along with his co-anchor, Judy Nugent, of the Dan Small & Judy Nugent Outdoors Radio show; on the Lake-Link Radio network; carting off a bunch of Radio awards. I can’t wait to see what they actually come home with.

Dan might attempt to post to this blog while in Roanoke, but he’ll be quite busy and will likely not get to it until he returns to Wisconsin.

So look for Dan’s posts .. Coming Soon .. here on his new Blog The Road w/ Dan Small Outdoors blog.

Hey, gang. This is really short notice, but if you’re near a radio this afternoon, listen to Talk of the Nation on National Public Radio. I assume the show will be archived at npr.org, in case you miss it.I’m going to try to tune in on my way home from ice fishing…

Later…

Hey, gang! Stop by the Milwaukee Boat Show this week in the Exposition Center at State Fair Park. I’ll be in the Outdoor Wisconsin booth this weekend and next. Check the calendar page of my Web site for details.

I’m also presenting several fishing seminars and a kids fishing clinic with Joel Kunz on Sunday, Jan. 29.

We’ll be taping segments for Outdoor Wisconsin there on Friday, Jan. 27 all afternoon. Come then and watch our camera crew in action.

Come to the show on Sat., Jan. 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and meet the newest Outdoor Wisconsin cast member, Judy Nugent.

On both weekends, I’ll be filleting perch on the Fillet King® fillet board in the Outdoor Wisconsin booth. See how the Fillet King® works and taste fried perch in Legendary Northwoods breading.

A Long Time Gone …

Holy mackeral! My RadioUserland license expired a month ago, and Radio switched service providers, so I couldn’t figure out how to renew it! (Where’s a 12-year-old when you need one?!)

Finally got that done tonight, so now I should be up and running again with my weblog.

Holy mackeral! My RadioUserland license expired a month ago, and Radio switched service providers, but I couldn’t figure out how to renew it! (Where’s a 12-year-old when you need one?!)

Finally got that done tonight, so now I should be up and running again with my weblog.

I’m not going to try to cover a month filled with activity, including a trip to Western NY, some ice fishing, a couple pheasant hunts, a couple deer hunts and some stuff I probably forgot already. We’ll just forge on ahead from here.

Next thing I need to do is update my calendar, but for now, here’s a heads-up. I’ll be at the Milwaukee Boat Show Jan. 20, 22, 27 and 29 for sure, with seminars each of those days (Fridays and Sundays). “Great Fishing Spots Near Milwaukee” for the first three days, then a kids fishing clinic with Joel “Doc” Kunz on the last Sunday. I’ll probably be there on other days, too, at the Outdoor Wisconsin booth, where you can buy a ticket on a 16-foot Crestliner/30 hp 4-stroke Mercury/Shorelander/Motor Guide package to help support Outdoor Wisconsin. (The boat package was put together by our friends at Cedar Lake Sales in West Bend. Stop at their display and check out all the Crestliners for 2006.) At the Outdoor Wisconsin booth, you can also see the unique Fillet King fillet board in action, as we fillet perch and or bluegills to show you how easy it can be with the proper equipment.

And, hey, if you want to see the Fillet King in action BEFORE the boat show, check out Outdoor Wisconsin this week, where you’ll see Fillet King inventor Wayne Johnson fillet a crappie during an ice fishing segment I taped last winter with Wayne and guide Eric Haataja.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, I’ll be at the 10th Annual Sportsmen’s Clinics and Dinner at Kiel High School, where I’ll present three seminars on spring turkey hunting. The event and dinner are free, but a donation is suggested. Preregistration is required. For more information, call 920-467-4999.

That’s enough news for now. I’ll add more in a couple days.

It’s good to be back!

Hey, gang. Check out my home page for a link to the Packers Fans Hall of Fame voting site, where you can vote for Jeff Kahlow, of Big Guy Hats. Jeff is the most rabid Packer fan I know and a guy who really deserves to be in the hall of fame.

You can vote once a day until December 9, so do it now and come back often!

Well, we did another day of TV deer hunting today, adding Jerry Kiesow and Bob Worth to our group. In a nutshell, we moved one nice buck that jumped out behind the drivers and eluded the standers and a small buck and a doe that ran past the standers so fast there was no hope for a good shot. Got a quick run-by on tape, however, so our day was not a total bust.

Charlie & Gail and I are going back at it again in the morning, determined to put one on the meat pole. We’ll keep you posted.
